A stunning location where South Pembrokes incredible climbing is merely 2 and a bit hours from Bristol, Pembroke is not one to be missed. Steep, long, hard and committing climbing on brilliant rock in a stunning setting gives for a fantastic trip to Pembroke. Some of the best routes in the country are here and you wont be disappointed… Whilst you’re there, make the most of the surf venues for a few evening waves and the welsh coast path for some challenging coastal running!
Often described as a mecca for climbing, Snowdonia has incredible venues with an abundance of all types of climbing. Head to places like the East Face of Tryfan for classic yet well worn easier mountain routes and scrambles, or alternatively head south to the one and only Tremadog for an abundance of routes and difficulties.
A place where you can get plenty of mileage in racking up routes in a short trip, the Peak Districts quality of climbing matches its beautiful countryside. With easy short access to many of the crags the Peak Distrcit makes for a great weekend or evening trip, and with its abundance of cafes and climbing shops there is plenty to do post climbing. Don't forget the superb running and mountain biking that can be had throughout the National Park!
With perfect rock, stunning views, gentle exposure and a stunning location, Bosigran has it all. Recently introduced to this little gem of a venue by some friends, I’ve instantly fallen in love! Bosigran has it all, some high quality low grade climbs such as the famous “Commando Ridge” for those new to climbing or looking for a slightly calmer day out, or harder brilliant routes such as “Suicide Wall” for those looking for exposed yet secure and incredible climbing.
A fantastic multi pitch city crag, Avon Gorge provides some great climbing in a very different setting. With Bristol City centre merely a couple of minutes up the road, climbers can finish work in Bristol and head up classic routes such as Hells Gates underneath the Clifton Suspension Bridge, or take on easier classics such as Gronk where you can top out on the Clifton Downs and enjoy an ice cream from the van before heading back down to do another route! Access to this venue is also brilliant from major motorways such as the M4 and M5 making it a great option for those with limited time living in areas nearby that aren't so fortunate to have great climbing venues!
